Week 4 EOC

Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And do you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It's freedom from fear. It's a billboard on the side of a road that screams with reassurance that whatever you're doing is OKAY. You are OKAY.

Many people see advertising and marketing as the same thing, but what they are not aware of is that advertising is actually a component of marketing. Advertising is spreading the awareness of what ever it is that you are trying to sell, may it be a product or something as simple as an idea.

If a young man tells his date she's intelligent, looks lovely, and is a great conversationalist, he's saying the right things to the right person and that's marketing. If the young man tells his date how handsome, smart and successful he is -- that's advertising. If someone else tells the young woman how handsome, smart and successful her date is -- that's public relations.

And marketing is a process or a series of processes. Marketing is a strategy that considers many variables as well as time and the costs of things. A marketing plan is built around the target customer; it is created to find the most successful way to reach them.
